KING OF THE ROXY NAMED OHIO-BRED HORSE OF THE YEAR


King of the Roxy won the G2 Hutcheson Stakes
and was close 2nd in G1 Santa Anita Derby.
Team Valor's Grade 2 winner King of the Roxy was named Ohio's Horse of the Year at the annual breeders' banquet held March 28 at historic Darby Dan Farm near Galloway Ohio.

The good-looking bay also received a special recognition award as the leading money-earning Ohio-bred in 2007.

During the 2007 season, King of the Roxy won the Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes, was a close second to Tiago in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, and also placed second in the Grade 3 Barbaro Stakes.

King of the Roxy is sired by multiple stakes winner Littleexpectations, a full-brother to Valid Expectations.

The Team Valor colorbearer stems from a highly successful female family which includes the likes of Grade 1 winners Al Bahathri, Spanish Fern, Heatseeker, Haafhd, and Mea Domina, as well as other Graded winners Slew's Tizzy, Jibboom, Lateen Sails, Almaty and many others. He was bred in Ohio by Deborah Kopatz.

King of the Roxy runs next in the Grade 1 Carter Handicap at Aqueduct on April 5.
